VAST Data is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize high-performance distributed systems, core data engines, and backend infrastructure for its AI infrastructure platform. The company is building foundational enterprise software that powers the AI era, enabling organizations to capture, catalog, refine, and protect massive datasets across data centers, edge, and cloud environments.
In this role, you will work on the VAST AI OS platform, a highly scalable distributed system featuring complex high-availability mechanisms and advanced APIs interoperable with diverse software ecosystems. You will be responsible for designing and deploying VAST OS across all major hyperscaler cloud vendors, handling large-scale clusters processing petabytes of data in real-time.
You will join a team of top-tier software engineers focused on solving computing's hardest problems at the intersection of data infrastructure and AI. The work involves deep system-level architecture, performance optimization, and engineering innovation to support mission-critical enterprise-level data workloads.
Key areas of focus include distributed systems design, high-performance data engines, backend infrastructure optimization, cloud deployment strategies, and ensuring reliability and scalability across petabyte-scale datasets.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deep system-level architecture understanding
- Mastery of modern C/C++ and Linux environment internals
- Experience designing and optimizing high-performance distributed systems
- Ability to work with large-scale clusters and petabyte-scale data processing
- Strong backend infrastructure and data engine development experience
