incident.io is an AI-powered software reliability platform used by engineering teams at Netflix, Etsy, and 2,000+ companies to manage incidents and downtime. The company has raised $96 million from Index Ventures, Insight Partners, and Point Nine and is in rapid growth mode. You will build incident.io's security function from the ground up, creating a product secure enough to support world-class engineering teams during critical incidents. The security team was established this year and currently has three people; this role is one of the final two hires to complete the core team. Day-to-day work includes: - Designing and implementing cloud security architecture and controls from first principles - Working in a greenfield environment with minimal existing process, giving you real autonomy and the ability to move quickly without approval chains - Balancing security with business velocity: saying yes where genuinely possible while retaining authority to block releases when necessary - Securing AI features and AI-driven workflows being shipped into the product - Using AI tools (unlimited Claude token budget) to accelerate threat modeling, testing, code review, and your own work - Collaborating with engineering teams to deliver security feedback in a way that builds trust and buy-in You are a security generalist with deep expertise in cloud security. You communicate effectively, can deliver critical feedback constructively, and have the grit to build processes and practices in a nascent function. Security is not just your job—it's something you genuinely care about and stay current with. You thrive in ambiguity and see security as a business enabler, not a blocker. The company emphasizes work-life balance with market-leading benefits including private medical insurance, competitive PTO, first Friday of each month off, enhanced 401k matching, meaningful equity, $1,000 setup budget, $500 annual professional development budget, and generous parental leave.
