Stepful is a Y Combinator-backed workforce platform training healthcare workers for major US health systems. The company has trained over 32,000 practice-ready healthcare workers and partners with half of the top 10 health systems in the US.
You will serve as Clinical Coordinator supporting the scaling of onsite clinical operations for Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing programs. This is a hands-on, field-based role requiring 50%+ travel to clinical sites across the US.
Key responsibilities include:
**Onsite Travel & Site Activation:** Travel to clinical sites to lead pre-launch preparation ahead of skills lab starts, confirming logistics, materials, and site readiness. Identify and onboard client-side clinical coordinators, lock in preceptor onboarding dates, and ensure materials are shipped before students arrive. Increase travel cadence as cohorts move into clinical rotations.
**Student Support:** Build trusting relationships with students throughout their clinical rotation, serving as a consistent point of contact. Support students through clinical remediation when practice-readiness or professionalism concerns arise. Track cohort progress against clinical timelines and flag at-risk students early to the Program Director.
**Clinical Coordination:** Serve as primary point of contact for client-side clinical coordinators and preceptors across assigned sites. Onboard preceptors through in-person or virtual sessions. Ensure preceptor evaluations are completed timely and thoroughly. Own recurring biweekly check-ins with on-site coordinators.
**Client Communication:** Present independently to clinical coordinators, preceptors, and hospital staff, building credibility quickly. Support hospital-level OR/division director relationships on multi-site accounts alongside the Program Director. Exercise judgment on what to resolve directly versus escalate. Partner with Program Director and Customer Success teams to avoid duplicated outreach.

- Stakeholder communication: comfortable presenting independently to clinical coordinators, preceptors, and hospital staff, building credibility without lengthy ramp-up
- Process and operational management: experience tracking cohort or program progress, flagging at-risk students or sites early, and managing logistics of in-person programs (skills lab setup, materials, scheduling)
- Willingness to travel to clinical sites regularly—50%+ of the time, with heavier travel during clinical scrubs phase
- Comfort operating with autonomy in a fast-growing organization, building process from incomplete playbooks
**Bonus qualifications:**
- EdTech or online/hybrid healthcare training experience
- Healthcare training, apprenticeship, or externship placement background
- Dual certification in surgical technology and sterile processing
- Based in Southeast US (Georgia, Florida, North/South Carolina)
