8Fleet is a Los Angeles-based technology and logistics company building operational infrastructure for modern rideshare fleets, operating across Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Atlanta, and Miami with expansion planned.
The Claims Operations Manager will own accident and vehicle-incident claims across all markets, from first notice of loss through investigation, repair coordination, negotiation, settlement, and closure. This role sits on the Central Operations team and is based in Los Angeles or San Francisco.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing accident and vehicle-incident claims end-to-end across all markets
- Building the incident intake and triage process, including first-24-hour protocols
- Serving as primary contact for carriers, TPAs, adjusters, and defense counsel, setting clear expectations
- Running subrogation and recovery as a dedicated workstream
- Partnering with market leaders to translate accident trends and risk patterns into operational improvements
- Developing claims reporting for leadership planning: frequency, severity, cost per vehicle, and open-claim aging
- Migrating claims from manual Google Sheets workflows onto a proper system
- Supporting insurance renewals with clean loss data
- Ensuring compliance with state requirements in CA, GA, FL, and new markets
- Building and scaling the claims team as volume grows
This role sits at the intersection of fleet availability, driver experience, insurance costs, repair expenses, operational risk, and company economics. Currently, claims run largely on manual workflows; you'll build the claims function from the ground up, establishing processes, standards, and reporting that turn claims data into money-saving decisions.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years in auto, fleet, transportation, or commercial auto claims, including owning a claims function or program end-to-end
- Experience with third-party liability and bodily injury claims
- Strong claim-file judgment and experience working with TPAs and defense counsel
- Confidence pushing back on carriers regarding reserves and coverage
- Multi-state experience, ideally including California
- Methodical approach and comfort building process from scratch
NICE TO HAVE:
- AIC, SCLA, ARM, or similar designation
- Self-insured or large-deductible program experience
- Fleet, rideshare, delivery, or logistics background
- People-management experience
