Brodie League is a fast-growing adult recreational basketball league operating across 30+ locations with 50,000 athletes. As a City Launcher, you will open and operate a Brodie market in Philadelphia, your home neighbourhood. This is fundamentally a community role first, sales role second, and growth marketing role third. You will recruit a minimum of 24 founding captains by leveraging your existing network in the local basketball community—coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, and other key figures. You will identify and negotiate venue agreements with gyms in your neighbourhood, validate market demand before signing leases, and own the revenue forecast through CRM tracking. You will build local demand from zero through social media, open runs, live events, and partnerships with local influencers and businesses. Throughout the launch season and beyond, you will attend every game night, build genuine relationships with captains and players, monitor league health (retention, team count, waitlist), and help develop the repeatable playbook for future Brodie city launches. As your track record grows, you will expand your territory to adjacent cities. Key responsibilities include: recruiting founding captains from your existing network; walking into gyms and courts where you are already a familiar face; building relationships with coaches, trainers, gym staff, and local business owners; identifying and evaluating venues, then negotiating and locking in the right space; running the soft close, demand proof, and signature sequence; owning the local social page and building anticipation pre-launch; hosting open runs and events to convert interest into signed teams; attending game nights and building community; monitoring league health and partnering with Operations; and helping build the repeatable launch playbook. REQUIREMENTS: - Live in the neighbourhood being launched (Philadelphia) or directly adjacent—not just the metro area. - Existing network in the local basketball community: coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, tournament organizers, group-chat admins. - Currently active in the game: playing in a rec league now or last season, in a gym weekly. You are a participant in the culture, not a fan. - Standing in your scene: when you recommend something, people move. This is reputation-based, not follower-count-based. - Ability to name your first ten captains and credibility to get them on the phone. - Comfort building demand from zero (events, social, partnerships, word of mouth) with little or no budget. - Ability to close: can ask a facility owner for a time slot and a captain for a deposit without hesitation, and manage conversations from first touch through signature. - Comfort owning a number, working in a CRM, and adopting new tools quickly. - Availability on evenings and weekends (game nights run roughly 7pm to midnight). - Willingness to travel across your territory as it expands. Nice to have: experience running a run, league, tournament, training group, or community program; experience running social media for a local brand, venue, team, or community; background in sports, events, hospitality, fitness, lifestyle, or entertainment; experience selling partnerships, sponsorships, memberships, or experiential products; 3+ years in sales, partnerships, community management, or growth (useful but not a filter—network and credibility matter more than title history).
