Brodie League is a fast-growing adult recreational basketball league with 50,000+ athletes across 30+ locations. As a City Launcher, you will open and operate a new Brodie market in your home neighbourhood (Stamford, Connecticut), serving as the face of the brand in your city.
You will own the full launch lifecycle: recruiting a minimum of 24 founding team captains from your existing network, identifying and negotiating gym venues, building local demand through social media and community events, and running the inaugural season. This is fundamentally a community-building role—you must already be embedded in the local basketball scene, know the gyms, run with the players, and have credibility when you recommend something.
Core responsibilities include:
**Community & Network Building:** Recruit founding captains starting with people you can name today. Walk into gyms and courts where you are already a familiar face (open runs, rec leagues, training sessions, tournaments). Build relationships with coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, and local influencers who move players. Drive referrals so captains and players become your largest recruiting channel. Maintain visible, weekly presence in your neighbourhood as part of your normal life.
**Venue & Sales:** Identify and evaluate gyms in your neighbourhood. Negotiate and lock in the right venue by proving demand before signing a lease. Own the pipeline in CRM (teams signed, fill rate, revenue) and track weekly progress so the market is forecastable. Escalate early when behind target.
**Growth & Marketing:** Build local demand from zero—nobody knows Brodie initially, but eight weeks later the gym is full. Run the location's social media in the lead-up to launch, building following, anticipation, and waitlist. Host open runs and live events that convert interest into signed teams. Leverage local distribution (trainers, shops, barbershops, run pages, photographers) through mutually beneficial partnerships.
**Season Ownership & Territory Expansion:** Attend all game nights and build genuine relationships with captains, players, families, and spectators. Monitor league health (retention, team count, waitlist, feedback) and partner with Operations on execution while owning growth and revenue. Help build the repeatable launch playbook for future Brodie cities. Earn the right to expand into adjacent cities as your track record grows.
You will report to the Sr. Director of Growth and work closely with leadership across operations, growth, brand, and people. This is not a hand-off role—you validate the market, prove the model, and grow it season over season.
**Requirements:**
- You live in the neighbourhood being launched (Stamford area) or directly adjacent—not just the metro area.
- Existing network in the local basketball community today: coaches, trainers, gym staff, run organizers, tournament organizers, group-chat admins.
- Currently active in the game: playing in a rec league now or last season, in a gym weekly. You are a participant in the culture, not just a fan.
- Standing in your scene: when you recommend something, people move. This is reputation-based, not follower-count-based.
- Confidence to name your first ten captains by name and credibility to get them on the phone.
- Comfort building demand from zero (events, social, partnerships, word of mouth) with minimal budget.
- Ability to close: can ask a facility owner for a time slot and a captain for a deposit without hesitation, and manage conversations from first touch through signature.
- Comfort owning a number, working in CRM, and adopting new tools quickly. Strong tech acumen or curiosity expected.
- Availability on evenings and weekends (game nights run roughly 7pm–midnight).
- Willingness to travel across your territory as it expands.
**Nice to Have:**
- Experience running a run, league, tournament, training group, or community program.
- Experience running social media for a local brand, venue, team, or community.
- Background in sports, events, hospitality, fitness, lifestyle, or entertainment.
- Experience selling partnerships, sponsorships, memberships, or experiential products/services.
- 3+ years in sales, partnerships, community management, or growth (useful but not a filter—credibility and network matter more than title history).
