Helsing is a defence AI company focused on protecting democracies through technological leadership in AI and autonomous systems. This Chief of Staff role is the primary operational partnership to the Head of Region for Australia & Indo-Pacific, covering seven nations: Australia, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, India, and the Pacific Islands.
You will own the internal operational machinery that translates regional strategy into executable plans and serves as the connective tissue between field strategy, the regional leadership team, and global headquarters in Europe.
Key responsibilities include:
- Translating regional strategy into concrete operational milestones, rhythms, and cross-functional action plans
- Owning internal gate reviews, stage-gate processes, and bid approvals across active campaigns, working with Commercial, Finance, and GRC teams
- Ensuring matrixed delivery teams, technical architects, and domain leads are aligned ahead of critical customer milestones and internal decision gates
- Preparing the Head of Region for high-stakes engagements and removing operational bottlenecks
- Serving as the proactive link between the Indo-Pacific theatre and European HQ leadership
- Building trust across global business units and maintaining alignment with HQ strategy
- Championing the unique regulatory environment and multi-domain priorities of the Indo-Pacific back to European functions
- Orchestrating complex, parallel campaigns across seven countries and multiple domains
- Facilitating weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reviews for the Indo-Pacific leadership team
- Leading rapid-turnaround special projects including regional entity expansion, market-entry analysis, and strategic partner integrations
The role requires someone who can operate effectively in a global matrix structure, manage complex governance cadences without bureaucratic overhead, and balance strategic debate with tactical execution.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years in high-growth technology, tier-1 consulting, defence/aerospace, or complex multinational environments
- Proven track record as Chief of Staff, Strategic/Business Operations lead, or senior Programme Manager supporting C-level or regional MD-level executives
- Demonstrated success operating in global matrix structures where regional execution depends on distributed HQ and functional buy-in
- Exceptional emotional intelligence and organisational savvy; ability to read dynamics and build consensus across cultural and functional boundaries
- Comfort running governance cadences, pipeline reviews, and bid processes without getting lost in bureaucracy
- Ability to debate strategy with executive peers and execute tactical deliverables with equal fluency
- Proactive, independent operating style with ability to anticipate blind spots and resolve friction before escalation
NICE TO HAVE:
- Familiarity with defence procurement, military bid gates, or government contracting in Australia/Indo-Pacific
- Australian citizenship with eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Baseline / NV1 or equivalent)
