Eventual is a Series B infrastructure company (founded 2022, $30M raised from Felicis, CRV, Y Combinator) building data platforms and indexing systems purpose-built for multimodal AI and Physical AI applications. The company's open-source engine, Daft, processes petabytes of video, lidar, radar, and sensor data daily for leading AI labs, autonomous vehicle programs, and GPU cloud providers including Amazon, Mobileye, and TogetherAI.
As Chief of Staff, you will own the strategic and operational work that drives company growth across functions. You'll serve as the connective tissue between teams, translating customer conversations into contracts, pricing decisions, and hiring plans. This is a high-ownership generalist role that bridges go-to-market, operations, and legal.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the company's operating cadence: planning, goal-setting, metrics, board and investor materials, and written decisions that align the team.
- Participating in and leading customer, partner, and GPU cloud provider conversations alongside the CEO, driving each to concrete outcomes.
- Stepping into functional leadership roles (sales, marketing, etc.) as needed, building repeatable systems and motions that enable future hires to inherit processes rather than ad-hoc approaches.
- Managing contracts and legal strategy: serving as internal counsel counterpart, shepherding deals through procurement and security reviews.
- Identifying and resolving cross-functional ambiguities—pricing models, partner programs, go-to-market hiring—and either owning the outcome or building the function to hand off.
The role is based in the SF Mission District with a 4-day/week in-office expectation. You'll work with a small, high-caliber team drawn from AWS, Lyft, and Tesla, selling to some of the most demanding engineering organizations in the world.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2–5 years of high-ownership work in one of: Chief of Staff, business operations, strategy and operations, early go-to-market at a startup, consulting, banking, or VC followed by an operating role. A degree in a quantitative, technical, or business field is typical.
- Broad operating range across planning, metrics, contracts, vendors, and hiring; comfort switching between these domains in a single day.
- Commercial and legal literacy: ability to read and negotiate MSAs, work effectively with outside counsel, and hold your own on customer and partner calls.
- Clear writing and thinking; memos and decks are polished enough to send as-is; you turn vague problems into clear recommendations.
- Technical literacy sufficient to follow engineering work and explain it to customers; coding ability not required.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience at data infrastructure, developer tools, or AI infrastructure companies; familiarity with GPU cloud ecosystems.
- Exposure to Physical AI domains: autonomous vehicles, robotics, ADAS.
- Track record taking open-source projects to commercial products, or running developer marketing, launches, and events.
- Enterprise procurement and security review experience, or involvement in a Series A or B fundraise.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration, management, or related field.
