Cortea is a European audit-tech company using AI to automate audits end-to-end, eliminating manual spreadsheet-driven processes and enabling auditors to focus on high-value judgment work. Founded in Berlin with €15m+ in funding, a live product, and paying customers across Europe, Cortea is expanding internationally and entering the UK market.
As Chief of Staff to the CEO, you will be a core member of the leadership orbit, working directly with Co-Founder Valentin to translate vision into operational and commercial reality. You sit at the intersection of Growth, Commercial, Strategy, and Operations, with a mission to tackle complex, timely challenges as Cortea scales.
Key responsibilities:
- UK Market Building: Spearhead Cortea's UK market entry by growing the team and presence. Work closely with founders and the Berlin team to adapt processes, hiring, and local go-to-market strategy.
- Commercial Ownership: Lead customer approach, partnerships, positioning, storytelling, and brand-building in the UK. Own UK customer relationships end-to-end from first conversation through expansion. Work hand-in-hand with the CEO and Growth/Marketing leads to build UK go-to-market motion, with direct responsibility for a set of accounts.
- Founder Force Multiplier: Act as a proxy for founders in internal and external meetings, ensuring decisions are made and projects stay on track when founders aren't present.
- Strategic Initiatives: Lead high-impact projects from conception to completion. While initially focused on UK market entry, you may also own other strategic initiatives such as designing AI-era pricing models or optimizing the sales-to-onboarding funnel.
- Scaling the AI-Native Operating System: Build repeatable processes, meeting cadences, and communication loops supercharged with AI agents and automation. Treat internal workflows as products, deploying AI to remove friction and enable scaling toward €100m+ ARR without losing speed.
You will gain a CEO-level view of building a category-defining AI company, based in London while working in close, frequent contact with founders and team in Berlin. This role is a springboard for significant career growth.
Requirements:
- Consultant-turned-operator background: experience combining analytical rigor with commercial and/or operational ownership. Ideally built foundations in top-tier strategy consulting or investment banking, then moved into early-stage, VC-backed environments in Commercial, Growth, or Operations roles.
- Financial fluency: deep understanding of P&L management, financial modeling, and SaaS metrics.
- Exceptional communicator: ability to distill complex AI concepts and financial data into clear, persuasive narratives for investors and team.
- High agency: comfortable with ambiguity in zero-to-one environments; you write the playbook rather than waiting for one.
- Native English speaker; German is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to Berlin frequently for in-person work with founders and team.
