In this Chief Medical Officer role, you will own Evvy's clinical position in fertility and shape how the field thinks about the vaginal microbiome's role in fertility outcomes. You will lead the design and scientific integrity of clinical studies, ensuring they are rigorous enough to withstand peer review and support publication, clinical utility, and commercialization.
Key responsibilities include:
**Clinical Study Design & Strategy:** Lead the design of prospective interventional studies, including endpoints, inclusion/exclusion criteria, randomization, power calculations, and complete protocol. Optimize evidence generation within agreed budgets and timelines. Bring research expertise to study sequencing and prioritization. Leverage Evvy's Fertility Advisory Board and external clinical experts as inputs. Own IRB submission strategy and ensure designs withstand scrutiny from the medical and research community. Work with internal data science teams and dedicated study execution leads.
**Clinical Leadership in the Field:** Serve as Evvy's senior clinical voice in the fertility and IVF community. Represent Evvy at major conferences (ASRM, ACOG) and with key opinion leaders in reproductive medicine. Act as internal co-Principal Investigator alongside an independent external PI, presenting study data. Build relationships with IVF clinics, REI doctors, and fertility societies. Shape long-term clinical credibility strategy across providers, payors, professional societies, and guidelines.
**Product Innovation & Clinical Strategy:** Identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes through stratifications, treatment protocols, intake flows, and educational interventions. Serve as fertility subject matter expert across Product, Growth, and R&D. Translate clinical and operational insights into scalable product improvements. Act as clinical thought partner to founders and board.
Evvy is open to both full-time and part-time arrangements for doctors who wish to maintain clinical practice or academic affiliations.
**Requirements:**
- Board certification in reproductive endocrinology with established standing in reproductive medicine
- Current academic appointment or equivalent research standing
- Substantial peer-reviewed publication record with direct experience designing and running clinical studies; prospective and randomized experience strongly preferred
- Active participation in relevant professional organizations such as ASRM
- Demonstrated ability to design studies against budget and timeline, prioritizing endpoints, cohort size, and trial duration with both scientific and business lens
- Interest in leveraging the vaginal microbiome to improve fertility outcomes
- Ability to think about clinical study design with scientific rigor and business context
- Comfort operating independently as an external, credible voice while being a true partner to Evvy
- Willingness to have Evvy as your only senior role with a private company
**Helpful but not required:**
- Expertise in the vaginal microbiome or novel diagnostics
- Experience bringing a diagnostic through payor coverage or into clinical guidelines
