Pennylane is a French fintech and one of Europe's fastest-growing accounting and financial management platforms. The company has raised €400M from top-tier investors including Sequoia and now serves over 900,000 SMEs and 6,000 accounting firms across Europe. With 1,000+ employees across 25 countries and a 4.9/5 Glassdoor rating, Pennylane is transforming how accountants work.
You will join the Partner Solutions Specialists team—composed entirely of former accountants—as a Functional Project Manager (PSS Front). This role bridges accounting expertise, project management, and client relationships. You work in tandem with a PSS Back (technical architect) who handles integration and technical aspects; you are the client-facing expert who frames requirements, reassures stakeholders, and drives projects forward.
Key responsibilities include:
• Conduct functional audits and needs analysis: plan and facilitate migration kickoffs, briefings, and retrospectives with accounting firms; analyze business requirements from field feedback; write documentation and user stories; lead workshops and webinars on accounting use cases.
• Manage migration projects: ensure clear, documented migration pathways for all stakeholders; adapt approaches while maintaining process integrity; communicate alignment between technical solutions and business needs; relay information to the PSS Back team.
• Configure and test: contribute to Pennylane configuration for client accounting processes; participate in functional testing to validate solutions before migration.
• Post-migration support: collaborate on debugging and problem resolution; conduct intermediate and final functional tests; contribute to post-migration reports and improvement recommendations.
• Drive automation and optimization: identify and prioritize automation needs; implement via documentation and concrete proposals; track satisfaction post-deployment.
• Continuous improvement: monitor product and accounting trends; propose enhancements; flag gaps or issues; transform needs into actionable solutions.
• Front/Back collaboration: understand PSS Back tasks and intervene on production issues as needed.
You bring solid accounting training (IUT GEA, BTS CGO, DCG, DSCG, or Master CCA equivalent), hands-on experience in an accounting firm (ideally with prior migrations), strong communication skills in French and English (minimum A2), and genuine client service orientation. You work autonomously and collaboratively, adapt quickly to product changes, and maintain continuous learning. Nice-to-haves include startup experience, B1+ English, strong synthesis and teaching skills, and marked proactivity.
