CesiumAstro develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. We are seeking a detail-oriented Calibration Engineer II to join our Quality Engineering Team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) used in aerospace manufacturing and testing.
In this role, you will develop, implement, and maintain calibration processes that comply with industry regulations and quality standards, playing a key role in maintaining product integrity and regulatory compliance. You will schedule and perform calibrations to ensure equipment and instrument compliance while minimizing production downtime, and maintain detailed records of calibration activities in compliance with quality management system (QMS) requirements.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing calibration procedures for aerospace M&TE in compliance with AS9100, ISO 17025, and other relevant standards; managing suppliers and service providers including negotiating pricing and contracts for equipment rental, purchase, and calibration services; analyzing calibration data to identify trends and optimize measurement processes; leading investigations into calibration failures and nonconformances; evaluating and recommending new calibration equipment and software; ensuring timely equipment rental or leasing to avoid downtime; supporting internal and external audits; and training technicians and operators on proper calibration techniques.
This is a hands-on role in a dynamic, cross-functional environment where you will work closely with various departments and sites to drive continuous improvement in calibration programs and measurement reliability.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent experience
- 2–5 years of experience in calibration, metrology, or quality engineering, preferably in aerospace or defense
- Strong understanding of metrology principles, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and measurement uncertainty analysis
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540, and other relevant quality and calibration standards
- Experience with asset management software, statistical analysis tools, and Microsoft Office
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills with strong attention to detail
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT), Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent metrology certifications preferred
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
