Arista Networks is seeking a senior C++ software engineer to join the Extensible Operating System (EOS) team, which develops the Linux-based network operating system running on Arista's data center networking products. You will be a core member of a fast-paced, high-caliber team building features for the world's largest data center networks.
You will own projects from definition to deployment, responsible for quality across the full lifecycle. Responsibilities include writing functional and design specifications for features related to forwarding traffic in cloud data centers; independently implementing solutions using C and C++; writing test plans and implementing automated test programs; debugging and fixing issues found by automated tests; collaborating on larger routing protocol problems; working with Customer Support Engineers to analyze and fix problems in customer networks; mentoring junior engineers; reviewing specifications and implementations from team members; and managing implementation schedules.
The role demands strong software engineering fundamentals and ideally a good understanding of networking, including L2, L3 capabilities, and commercial switching hardware fundamentals. You will work across all aspects of EOS, not limited to a single component. You will collaborate with fellow engineers and the marketing team to gather requirements, and work with System Test Engineers to analyze and resolve test findings.
Requirements:
- BSc, MS, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of related post-graduate work experience
- Knowledge of C and/or C++
- Knowledge of UNIX or Linux
