Salary: USD 70,000 - 86,000 / annual
Applied Aerospace designs, fabricates, and tests mission-critical aerospace components for leading innovators including SpaceX, NASA, Northrop Grumman, and Boeing. This Buyer role is responsible for procuring goods and services—raw materials, machined parts, tools, and supplies—in support of production teams and facility operations.
Key responsibilities include negotiating best pricing, delivery, and terms to meet company and customer specifications. You will manage Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) and other pricing agreements, determine optimal procurement methods (best source, sole source, or bid), and review bid proposals within budgetary authority. The role requires opening and maintaining purchase orders from requisition through closure, including follow-up to ensure timely receipt and acceptable material quality.
You will manage material flow from requisition through receipt, acceptance, and payment, resolving any receiving or invoice discrepancies. Regular communication with Program Managers and production teams is essential—you'll attend production meetings to provide material status updates, identify problems, propose solutions, and review open action items. You must meet or beat material pricing budgets as defined by PMs using RTP or MRP-driven purchases.
Additional duties include supporting bids and proposals with material estimates, discussing defective goods with quality control and vendors to determine root causes and corrective actions, identifying and qualifying new suppliers, and monitoring supplier performance across cost, on-time delivery, and quality metrics. Travel to vendor and supplier facilities is required approximately 10% of the time.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree or 5 years of related experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. MRP knowledge and APICS certification are valued. ITAR eligibility required (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
