Saronic Technologies is seeking a Buyer to support the production and delivery of autonomous surface vessels for the Department of Defense. This role is central to the company's supply chain operations, requiring expertise in sourcing, procurement, and supplier management within the defense and maritime sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring their performance against quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Address performance issues promptly to ensure continuity.
Sourcing & Evaluation: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability. Continuously develop a diversified supply base to reduce risk.
Negotiation: Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with suppliers to achieve cost-effective agreements while maintaining quality standards.
Cost Analysis: Conduct cost analysis and benchmarking to identify savings opportunities and improve supply chain efficiency.
Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with engineering, production, and logistics to maintain adequate stock while minimizing excess.
Risk Management: Proactively identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure supply continuity.
Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with government regulations and industry standards, particularly those governing defense contracts (FAR, DFAR).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, production, and logistics teams to align procurement with project goals and timelines.
Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance procurement and supply chain efficiency.
The role requires U.S. Person status due to access to export-controlled information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field
- Experience in procurement and supplier management, preferably in defense or maritime industry
- Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with government procurement regulations (FAR, DFAR) is a plus
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools
