Salary: USD 163,000 - 203,800 / annual

Mercury is a fintech platform building a complete finance stack for startups, offering banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions. The company has obtained a provisional national bank charter and is scaling its product and risk management capabilities. In this role, you will report to the Head of Business Risk & Enablement and serve as a key partner to Product, Operations, Compliance, and other cross-functional teams. Your primary focus will be ensuring that Mercury's products and features are delivered safely and soundly while maintaining best-in-class standards. You will leverage subject matter expertise in Mercury's core product offerings and associated risks, with particular responsibility for facilitating non-financial risk management programs. Key responsibilities include: - Identifying blind spots in processes and controls, recommending commercial improvements and enhancements - Facilitating pre-launch and new activity initiative reviews, tracking items to closure and escalating as needed - Executing risk self-assessments and similar exercises within non-financial risk frameworks - Managing events, incidents, issues, and remediations, ensuring proper recording and management through to resolution - Developing and iteratively enhancing KPIs and KRIs to be monitored by product/process owners and stakeholders - Coordinating interactions and responses between Product and Operations teams for audits, exams, and external reviews - Engaging deeply with stakeholders across Product, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and other functions - Designing and delivering enterprise-wide trainings on risk and controls topics You will work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment where you influence without direct authority and balance risk, compliance, and customer experience considerations. Requirements: - 5–7+ years of experience in banking, fintech, or other financial services firms in product/business, business risks and controls, operational risk, or similar roles - Track record of balancing risk, compliance, and customer experience in cross-functional settings - Excellent communication skills to simplify complex business, regulatory, and risk concepts - Familiarity with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) practices and non-financial risk frameworks - Curious, growth-oriented mindset motivated to work on risk and controls across all lifecycle stages (new product launches, scaling, legacy optimization) - Collaborative, problem-solving approach with strong stakeholder management skills and ability to influence without direct authority - High quality bar and strong sense of ownership; ability to see things through to completion with pragmatism - Proficiency with AI tools or eagerness to develop proficiency; growth mindset acceptable if not an expert on day one Preferred: - Exposure to product or technology development lifecycles (pre-launch reviews, feature rollouts, cross-functional builds); formal PM background not required, just familiarity with product-to-launch processes
