Base Power is rebuilding America's electrical grid through distributed battery networks. The Business Operations team is a lean group of generalists who tackle high-stakes, ambiguous problems—from acquisition integrations to commercial partnerships, market entries, and financing structures. You'll own one high-leverage problem at a time, working directly with Base's leadership team on decisions that shape the company's trajectory.
In this role, you'll structure ambiguous problems by defining goals, naming owners, and writing memos that force tradeoffs, getting leadership to decisions in days rather than weeks. You'll build financial models, scorecards, and one-pagers yourself, then run cross-functional programs across engineering, market operations, legal, finance, and customer operations without formal authority. Your work requires deep knowledge of the business—you'll spend time with deployment, markets, and customer teams to ensure recommendations survive reality.
You'll need 4–8 years of experience, ideally with a foundation at a top consulting firm (top-bucket ratings) followed by an operating role where you owned outcomes. You should have personally run a cross-functional program end-to-end: an integration, market entry, partnership launch, or turnaround. You're analytically strong, can write persuasively, and are comfortable defining your own mandate and creating structure where none exists. You operate with low ego and high ownership, and you're fluent with AI tools—using agents to multiply output while knowing when to verify their work. Base values first-principles thinking, speed, direct feedback, ownership, and commitment to the mission of rebuilding the grid. The role is in-person in Austin; it's not a 9-to-5, and priorities shift quickly.
