iCapital is seeking a Business Controls and Governance Assistant Vice President to lead the design, implementation, and oversight of the firm's first line of defense (1LOD) business control framework. This role is central to embedding robust operational controls across key workflows, identifying and mitigating operational risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include designing and documenting business processes, controls, and standard operating procedures; executing recurring control activities such as evidence collection, sampling, and control testing; and partnering with Operations, Product, and Analytics teams to implement controls supporting strategic initiatives. The role involves tracking control effectiveness, preparing governance materials and dashboards for senior leadership, and maintaining audit-ready documentation repositories.
The position requires strong analytical capabilities, including the ability to perform ad hoc analyses using SQL, Excel, or BI tools to identify trends, control gaps, and process inefficiencies. You will build and maintain KRIs (Key Risk Indicators) and KCIs (Key Control Indicators), support incident management through root cause analysis and remediation tracking, and identify opportunities to automate and streamline control workflows.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring deep subject matter expertise in the company's operational processes, systems, and data interdependencies. You will work cross-functionally to enhance scalability, operational resilience, and transparency while supporting the evolution of the firm's control environment.
Required qualifications include 5+ years in business controls, risk management, operations, or data-driven operational roles, with experience in fintech, wealth management, or financial services preferred. Specific expertise in alternative investments and related operational workflows is required, along with familiarity with regulatory frameworks. You must demonstrate proficiency in PowerPoint and data visualization, knowledge of operational risk frameworks (RCSAs, KRIs, issue management), and understanding of 1LOD/2LOD responsibilities. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential.
