Relay is a digital banking platform helping self-made business owners gain clarity and control over their finances. We're seeking a Brand Designer to join our Marketing Design team and shape how our brand comes to life across campaigns and customer touchpoints. You'll own brand design projects from brief to delivery across paid media, web, lifecycle, social, campaigns, events, and sales enablement. Working closely with copywriters, marketers, and cross-functional partners, you'll translate marketing strategy and customer insight into thoughtful visual concepts and stories. You'll apply Relay's visual identity with both consistency and creativity, contributing ideas that evolve the brand. Key responsibilities include independently managing small-to-medium projects by clarifying scope, aligning stakeholders, and maintaining timelines; presenting work and explaining design rationale; synthesizing feedback into stronger iterations; building reusable templates and documentation; and using performance signals to connect design decisions to marketing goals. You'll develop deeper expertise in at least one design specialty—such as motion, social, lifecycle, illustration, iconography, or web—and share that knowledge with teammates. The role emphasizes thoughtful use of emerging tools, including AI, to support original concepting while maintaining quality standards. Relay's brand design philosophy centers on making complex financial ideas feel clear, memorable, and human. In a category that can feel cold or interchangeable, your work helps business owners feel understood and helps Relay earn trust. REQUIREMENTS: - 3–5 years of experience in brand design, visual design, graphic design, or marketing design (in-house, agency, or equivalent demonstrated through portfolio) - Strong design fundamentals, thoughtful concepting, and cohesive execution across multi-asset campaigns or multiple channels - Strong eye for typography, layout, composition, color, visual storytelling, and brand consistency - Ability to clearly explain individual contributions and design reasoning - Understanding of how design supports audience, marketing goals, and business objectives - Ability to independently manage small-to-medium projects, balance multiple workstreams, and communicate clearly about scope, timelines, feedback, and risk - Strong collaboration across disciplines; active participation in brainstorms and critiques - Ability to absorb complex or abstract feedback and improve work iteratively - Ownership mindset with commitment to building deeper expertise in at least one design area - Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva BONUS: - Experience designing for B2B, SaaS, fintech, financial services, or fast-moving startup brands - Deeper expertise in motion, illustration, web, lifecycle, social, paid media, or presentation design - Experience creating templates, libraries, or documented design systems - Experience collaborating with freelancers, agencies, developers, or production partners - Experience managing project-level budgets or external resources
