Anduril Industries is seeking a Battery Technical Program Manager to lead the development and delivery of high-performance battery packs and power distribution systems for autonomous defense platforms. This is a deeply technical leadership role embedded within the hardware engineering organization, not a passive coordination function.
You will bridge cell chemistry, mechanical packaging, battery management systems (BMS), thermal design, and manufacturing to drive the complete lifecycle of custom battery programs from early-stage cell selection through prototyping, qualification, and high-rate production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, thermal, firmware, safety, manufacturing) to deliver custom battery packs on schedule and within budget
- Translating product-level requirements (weight, volume, power density, thermal constraints, cycle life) into actionable engineering specifications
- Managing the hardware development lifecycle (EVT, DVT, PVT) with proactive identification and mitigation of technical, supply chain, and schedule risks
- Partnering with Global Supply Chain to manage relationships with cell manufacturers, external pack assemblers, and component vendors
- Coordinating rigorous testing and qualification campaigns ensuring compliance with transport and military safety standards (UN 38.3, MIL-STD-810, NAVSEA SG270/S9310-AQ-SAF-010)
- Acting as primary point of contact for internal product platform teams to integrate battery systems into airframes and hulls
Required qualifications: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. 4+ years as TPM, Product Manager, or Lead Engineer delivering complex hardware systems, with at least 2 years focused on lithium-ion battery packs, BMS, or electric powertrains (EV, aerospace, grid storage, defense). Strong understanding of battery pack design, cell chemistry performance (NMC, LFP, Li-Metal), thermal runaway mitigation, BMS architectures, and high-voltage safety. Proven ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with exceptional cross-functional communication skills.
Preferred: aerospace/defense battery qualification standards experience, hardware prototyping-to-manufacturing transition experience, hands-on testing/CAD/thermal simulation tools.
