Vinted is Europe's leading second-hand marketplace with a mission to make pre-owned fashion and lifestyle items the first choice. The company operates three business units: Vinted Marketplace (the core platform connecting millions of members across 20+ markets), Vinted Go (shipping and logistics network with 500,000+ pickup/drop-off points), and Vinted Pay (payments infrastructure for buyers and sellers).
You'll join the Bridge team within the Payments Money Movement domain, responsible for connecting Vinted Pay to the external financial world. The team owns how money leaves the platform and reaches members—bank accounts, payouts, and migrations from external payment service providers into Vinted Pay. You'll work on a critical initiative: migrating millions of members and their payment flows from external providers to Vinted Pay with zero downtime and zero transaction loss, while simultaneously building new revenue streams on top of payments capabilities.
In this role, you will:
- Work in a cross-functional team of 3-4 backend engineers, frontend engineers, an engineering manager, product manager, and decision scientist
- Build migration and payout flows in Ruby, orchestrating them as durable Temporal workflows across services
- Own topics end-to-end: from ambiguous requirements through written proposals, cross-team alignment, implementation, and production monitoring
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, and others) as part of daily workflow for building, debugging, investigating production issues, and writing documentation
- See your code impact millions of users almost instantly—main branch deploys to production on each merge, with many deployments per day
- Work with a diverse tech stack: Ruby, MySQL, OpenSearch, Redis, Kafka, Temporal, Prometheus, Grafana
- Write unit tests for all code and contribute to integration and end-to-end testing
- Take ownership of alerts and business metrics to ensure 99.99% availability
- Participate in on-call rotations
You should take ownership of features and projects from start to finish, breaking problems down so others can tackle them. You navigate ambiguity well—extracting real needs from vague requirements, proposing solutions with trade-offs, and driving agreement. You think like a product engineer: asking why before how, questioning requirements that don't make sense, and caring about actual user and business outcomes. You're a pragmatic problem solver who thinks practically, chooses the best solutions, avoids over-engineering, and prioritizes simplicity. You document your work (proposals, RFCs, ADRs) so others don't have to reverse-engineer your thinking. You care deeply about observability and monitoring so your team isn't flying blind when issues arise. You embrace AI tooling and agentic workflows, using them consciously to multiply your output and raising your team's level with what you learn. You have excellent written and spoken English.
Vinted offers a hybrid work model with 2 recommended office days per week, workation policy (up to 90 days per year in the EU, 21 days globally for non-EU citizens), 25 working days of holiday, share options, private health insurance, pension plan with matching contributions, individual learning budget (€3,000 annually, up to 10 working days over 2 years), home office support (€540 budget), and frequent team-building events.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Backend engineering experience with demonstrated ability to own features and projects end-to-end
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and extract real needs from vague requirements
- Product-oriented mindset: asking why before how, questioning requirements, caring about user and business outcomes
- Pragmatic problem-solving approach with preference for simplicity over over-engineering
- Strong documentation practices (proposals, RFCs, ADRs)
- Focus on observability, monitoring, and reliability (99.99% availability standards)
- Comfort with on-call responsibilities
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willingness to learn diverse tech stacks quickly (Ruby, MySQL, OpenSearch, Redis, Kafka, Temporal, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Proficiency with unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing
- Ability to use AI-assisted development tools effectively and help team improve with them
ADVANTAGES:
- Experience in payments, fintech, KYC/AML, or other regulated domains
