ixigo is a leading online travel agency (OTA) in India, serving over 54 crore annual active users. The company powers travel planning and booking across rail, air, buses, and hotels through its ixigo, ConfirmTkt, and AbhiBus apps, leveraging AI and proprietary algorithms to help travelers make smarter decisions.
In this Backend Engineer role, you will design, build, deploy, and support features across ixigo's services. You'll own backend modules end-to-end, shipping scalable, distributed systems in collaboration with Product, Design, and QA teams. Key responsibilities include building highly scalable, multi-tier, distributed backend systems; owning the performance and stability of applications and infrastructure; and evaluating and adopting new tools and practices to speed up delivery. You'll also be responsible for safeguarding sensitive company data against unauthorized access and reporting suspected security incidents in line with the organization's Information Security Management System (ISMS) policies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2–3 years of backend experience at product companies
- CS/Engineering degree (IITs / top NITs preferred)
- Expertise in Java/J2EE or .NET (C#) and design patterns
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and multithreading
- Experience building scalable web services
- Proficiency with MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server, or MongoDB
- Experience with profiling, performance tuning, and writing unit and automation tests
- Experience with e-commerce applications
- Agentic development with AI coding agents like Claude Code or Codex
