Impulse is seeking an Avionics Manufacturing Supervisor to lead and manage avionics manufacturing technicians supporting the production of avionics hardware for Impulse's vehicles. This is a hands-on leadership role with direct responsibility for hiring, developing, and mentoring a manufacturing team while overseeing all aspects of avionics production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Hiring, developing, and mentoring avionics manufacturing technicians
- Providing production coordination by driving manufacturing schedules and supporting day-to-day floor operations for PCB assemblies and electromechanical assembly
- Overseeing acceptance testing of avionics hardware, including environmental and electrical testing
- Collaborating with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability, DFM/DFA compliance, and long-term reliability
- Setting daily and weekly production targets backed by performance metrics such as rate and yield
- Developing, documenting, and optimizing manufacturing processes for avionics
- Establishing and maintaining high technical standards through specifications and training
- Managing space, equipment, and consumables in the avionics cleanroom
The role involves hands-on work with PCB assemblies (staking, conformal coating, underfill, soldering), RF passive components (antennas and filters), mechanical assembly, and acceptance testing (electrical and environmental ATP). You will work directly with leaders and individual contributors across disciplines and have the opportunity to contribute to all aspects of avionics production.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- Demonstrated commitment to and track record of leadership and growing people
- 5+ years of professional experience manufacturing electrical and optical hardware
- Demonstrated experience building, managing, and developing a manufacturing team
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale, and resolve concerns
- Experience with the production of PCB assemblies (soldering, conformal coating, etc.)
- Experience with electromechanical assemblies
- Experience with acceptance testing (ATP), including electrical and environmental testing (thermal cycling, thermal vacuum, vibration)
