Impulse is seeking an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer to own the Helios avionics product within the manufacturing organization. Helios is a kick stage enabling access to MEO, GEO, Cislunar, and beyond orbits, paired with a medium-lift launch vehicle to deliver heavy-lift performance at medium-lift costs.
In this role, you will serve as program manager for both flight hardware and ground support equipment, owning the mechanical assembly of the Helios avionics system. You will work cross-functionally with subject matter experts across PCBAs, RF, optics, harnessing, and batteries to design and optimize the manufacturing process. Key responsibilities include writing manufacturing procedures for mechanical assembly, training and guiding technicians on the production floor, and collaborating with design engineers on design-for-manufacturability (DFM) improvements.
You will define schedules and deliverables in partnership with the Helios program management team, ensure timely delivery of avionics components to integration, and provide day-to-day production floor support including resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yields. You will also support environmental and functional testing in production and collaborate with cross-functional teams on quality and long-term reliability.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field. You must have 3+ years of experience in a program management or project management role leading cross-functional teams to deliver complex hardware in a manufacturing setting, and 3+ years as a manufacturing engineer for electronic or optical hardware. Experience writing manufacturing work instructions and training technicians is essential. Proficiency in mechanical design using Siemens NX is required.
