Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming military capabilities through advanced autonomy, AI, computer vision, and sensor fusion. The Sentry Tower Software team develops robotic perimeter security systems that monitor for approaching people, vehicles, and vessels across land and sea environments.
You will join the manufacturing software team responsible for building and maintaining test automation and diagnostic tooling for Sentry Tower systems. Every unit shipped passes through your software—it is the final verification that hardware works before leaving the production floor, making it the last opportunity to catch defects while fixes are still measured in hours rather than expensive field trips.
Your primary users are production floor technicians, not engineers. This means the work is deliberately unglamorous: clear error messages, tooling that fails obviously, and diagnostics that non-technical users can follow at 6am without escalation. You will develop automated test suites to verify hardware functionality, create user-friendly diagnostic interfaces, implement robust error-capturing mechanisms, and collaborate closely with hardware and QA teams. You will work directly with technicians every shift, treating their time as your primary optimization constraint. You will also be pulled into whatever is blocking the production line—this does not wait for sprint planning.
The upside is a feedback loop most software engineers never experience: your users are in the same building and will tell you within a day if something works or fails.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience building test automation, instrumentation, or tooling for hardware, with comfort working hands-on with physical hardware on a bench
- Proficiency in Python for test and tooling work, plus 2+ years of professional experience in Rust or C++ working on services under test
- Solid grasp of networking principles including CAN and Ethernet protocols; expertise in hardware interfacing, diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, CANoe), and cybersecurity principles as they apply to secure and reliable sensor data transmission
- Strong engineering background from industry or academia, ideally in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
- US person status required with eligibility to obtain and maintain a US security clearance
