Infleqtion is commercializing atom-based quantum technologies for sensing and computing applications. The company is seeking an Associate Quantum Physicist to join its quantum computing team and help advance neutral-atom quantum computing systems. In this role, you will assemble, align, calibrate, operate, and maintain neutral-atom quantum computing systems and subsystems. You will execute defined R&D tasks involving quantum processor hardware, quantum-gate protocols, laser and optical systems, calibration, control, and system integration. Working with guidance from senior team members, you will translate experimental objectives into test procedures, measurement sequences, and data-analysis workflows. Key responsibilities include conducting experiments, analyzing data, comparing results with physics-based models, and communicating conclusions to the broader team. You will develop and maintain Python-based tools for experiment control, data analysis, calibration, automation, and hardware integration. You will test and troubleshoot assigned equipment and subsystems using established diagnostic methods, document experimental procedures and results, and support the commissioning and routine operation of experimental systems. Collaboration with physics, software, electrical, mechanical, and systems-engineering teams is essential. The role is based in Louisville, Colorado, with up to 10% travel required. Work will be performed in office and laboratory environments around technical equipment including computers and lasers. Note that this position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws and regulations for quantum computing technology; any offer may be conditioned on authorization to receive controlled software or technology without sponsorship for an export license. REQUIREMENTS: - Master's degree in atomic, optical, AMO, quantum physics, or related field; OR bachelor's degree plus at least two years of comparable research or professional experience - Hands-on experience conducting experiments involving atomic, optical, quantum, or precision-measurement systems - Research or professional experience applying quantitative atomic or optical physics to experimental design, data analysis, or interpretation - Hands-on experience with lasers and optical systems, together with related technologies such as acousto-optic or electro-optic modulators, RF instrumentation, imaging systems, or ultra-high-vacuum equipment - Experience using Python for experiment control, data analysis, automation, or hardware integration - Experience conducting and analyzing physics experiments or developing and testing an experimental subsystem PLUS (desirable): - Experience with neutral atoms, trapped ions, Rydberg physics, optical tweezers, quantum-gate protocols, or other coherent-control platforms - Experience assembling, aligning, or maintaining laser and optical systems - Experience with high-power or short-wavelength lasers and optical power-delivery systems - Experience measuring laser-frequency, phase, pointing, or intensity noise - Experience with analog electronics, RF systems, feedback control, or laboratory instrumentation - Experience with high-numerical-aperture imaging, beam shaping, or optical projection - Experience with ultra-high-vacuum systems or integrating optical, electronic, vacuum, control, and software subsystems - Experience developing automated calibration, data-analysis, or experimental test tools - Familiarity with Linux, Git, command-line tools, and collaborative software-development practices
