As an Associate in Credit Risk Operations, you will lead the establishment and scaling of Airwallex's collections function. This is a founding-team role with significant ownership and impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a founding member of the Collections team, architecting team playbooks, escalation matrices, and recovery strategies as the company scales globally
- Partner with Engineering and Product to design, build, and optimize automated collections systems and interaction logging
- Collaborate with Accounting to establish bad-debt provisioning frameworks based on portfolio risk, customer communications, and repayment patterns
- Directly engage high-risk and delinquent accounts (missed payments, negative balances, credit limit breaches) to negotiate repayment structures
- Conduct deep-dive investigations into account activity and root-cause risks to design tailored recovery plans
- Work with Commercial and Risk Operations teams to resolve sensitive cases, balancing revenue protection with credit loss minimization
- Ensure all collection strategies comply with local and international financial regulations and debt recovery standards
Requirements:
- 5+ years of direct experience in B2B debt collection, commercial recovery management, or credit risk operations within fintech, SaaS, or commercial banking
- Solid understanding of bad-debt provisioning, credit risk dynamics, and debt collection compliance frameworks
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- High proficiency in English, both written and verbal
- Highly curious and thoughtful; proactive self-starter with sense of urgency and bias for action in fast-paced environments
- Results-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through
- Comfortable with complex data and analytics to draw meaningful insights
