Salary: USD 135,700 - 196,750 / annual
Moody's Analytics is seeking an Assistant Vice President to lead cloud economics strategy and financial partnership across Engineering, Product, and FinOps organizations. This role serves as Finance's primary business partner to MA Engineering, Product, and Technology leadership, driving transparency and executive decision support around cloud spend and cloud investment decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading cloud economics strategy and financial partnership across Moody's Analytics divisions
- Serving as the primary Finance business partner to Engineering, Product, and Technology leadership for cloud spend, economics, and investment decisions
- Building trusted relationships across Engineering, Product, FinOps, and Finance teams
- Supporting and enhancing driver-based cloud consumption models across key products
- Leading cloud forecasting activities, annual planning, rolling forecasts, and variance analysis
- Building product-level cloud cost transparency and attribution frameworks
- Partnering with FinOps teams on tagging governance, allocation methodologies, and unit economics
- Preparing materials and actionable insights for senior Finance and MA executives
- Challenging assumptions and influencing decision-making through data-driven analysis
The role requires translating technical decisions into financial insights and executive narratives, with a focus on understanding engineering and business drivers behind cloud spend. You will work at the forefront of cloud finance innovation, leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance insights and support informed decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8–10+ years of experience in Technology Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, Cloud Economics, Engineering Finance, Product Finance, FinOps, or related disciplines
- Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers and consumption-based pricing models, including hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake, MongoDB, Confluent, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated experience partnering with Engineering and Product organizations to translate technical decisions into financial insights
- Strong financial modeling and scenario analysis capabilities with proven experience building driver-based financial models and forecasts
- Understanding of FinOps concepts, allocation methodologies, tagging governance, and cloud governance practices
- Executive presence and communication skills; ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences and influence without direct authority
- Strong stakeholder management skills with ability to challenge assumptions constructively and drive data-driven decision-making
- Demonstrated proficiency in AI concepts with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency
- Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges
- Growing awareness of AI risk management and commitment to responsible and ethical AI use
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field
