COBS Bread, a franchise bakery network with 150+ locations across Canada, is seeking an Area Manager to oversee franchise operations in Ontario. Reporting to the Regional Director of Operations, you will manage relationships with franchise operators, drive operational excellence, and ensure compliance with brand standards across multiple retail bakery locations.
Key responsibilities include: building and maintaining trust-based relationships with franchisees; conducting hands-on analysis of business opportunities and developing improvement action plans; maximizing sales growth through customer satisfaction initiatives; coaching and advising franchise operators on financial health and profitability; coordinating new franchisee training and bakery openings; ensuring brand standard compliance; and implementing marketing, product, and systems initiatives across the franchise network.
You will work closely with the Support Team and Franchising/Training departments to drive consistent operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and franchisee success. The role requires frequent field travel and hands-on engagement rather than desk-based work.
Required qualifications: 5+ years of managerial experience, ideally in food service, hospitality, or franchise sectors; 2+ years in franchise retail or multi-site retail management; strong financial analysis and performance metrics skills; valid driver's license with willingness to travel frequently; excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities; ability to work autonomously and influence others; degree in Business Management or related field; demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgment with minimal supervision.
