ICON is seeking an Applications Testing Coordinator to manage the operational execution of large-scale robotic printing tests. This role sits at the intersection of technical coordination, logistics, and hands-on field operations, ensuring test campaigns run on schedule and meet approved specifications.
You will be the operational backbone of the Testing organization, translating approved test plans from engineering, material science, and product teams into scheduled, resourced, and well-documented execution. Key responsibilities include:
• Coordinate test execution: Receive and vet incoming test requests for completeness and constructibility; collaborate with stakeholders to align direction and secure formal approval before scheduling and resource allocation.
• Schedule and sequence test prints: Drive tactical print scheduling across Vulcan and Titan robotic printers, accounting for print windows, crew availability, and material constraints; maintain daily visibility of active tests and blockers.
• Manage materials and procurement: Procure and track materials for test articles and consumables; drive procurement of specialty items (structural steel, reinforcement, supplies) to ensure materials are on hand before print windows.
• Coordinate non-print test activities: Ensure operational excellence outside direct printing, including vendor coordination, supply chain management, specimen cleanup, and scheduling heavy equipment or site services.
• Facilitate print readiness: Support print preparation and participate in print-path reviews; confirm reinforcement, test-article readiness, and that materials, tooling, instrumentation, and crew are staged before each test.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation: Develop workflows to capture and organize quality-control data (cylinders, slump, flow, batch-plant results), print observations, and visual records; ensure test plans and results remain linked and traceable; tie daily shift reports to final test reports and machine telemetry.
• Coordinate packaging, lifting, and shipping: Oversee specimen and article packaging per test plans; oversee lifting of finished test articles alongside shift leadership; coordinate shipping to labs, job sites, and partners.
• Keep tests moving: Maintain accurate intake, planning, execution, and completion status for each test; assign and follow up on owners; chase material approvals, engineering inputs, software, and field inputs; escalate promptly when blockers threaten scheduled windows.
This is a hands-on role requiring comfort on active test and production floors, coordinating materials, specimens, lifting, and shipping. You will work in both shop and field conditions, including extreme environments (heat over 100°F, cold, rain, mud, dust). Physical demands include lifting 50 pounds unassisted, standing and moving for extended periods, climbing ladders, and handling material buckets. Limited extended hours around active test windows, shipping deadlines, and customer visits; occasional travel to ICON job sites.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Qualifications:
• Three or more years of coordination, planning, logistics, or technical-operations experience in manufacturing, construction, fabrication, testing, or field-operations environments.
• Blueprint literacy: Demonstrated experience reading and following construction or product drawings and specifications (rebar diagrams, machine assemblies, etc.).
• Coordination: Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple concurrent activities and stakeholders while maintaining detailed, accurate records.
• Manual fabrication: Comfort working with tools (drills, saws, hammers, etc.) to execute non-print activities; construction-task experience on the slab.
• Digital fluency: Proficiency with ticketing and documentation software (Jira, Confluence, Procore); standard productivity tools; comfort with custom ICON software; ability to organize data and build spreadsheets or dashboards.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication; ability to produce clear documentation, schedules, and status reporting.
• Hands-on comfort: Comfort working on active test or production floors coordinating hands-on activities involving materials, specimens, lifting, and shipping.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or relevant technical training welcomed. ICON favors demonstrated capability over credentials.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Experienced construction foreman, Construction Manager (CM), lab coordinator, or equivalent field-operations lead with strong technical coordination background.
• Experience coordinating test campaigns, construction mockups, or research and development builds.
• Experience with concrete construction, including ability to read and interpret rebar Bill of Materials (BOMs) and complex shop drawings.
• Familiarity with concrete quality-control sampling (cylinders, slump, flow) and material or specimen traceability.
• Familiarity with 3D printing, rapid fabrication, or construction methods.
• Procurement or vendor-coordination experience, especially with structural steel or specialty construction supplies.
• Hands-on experience operating heavy machinery (forklifts, telehandlers, aerial lifts, material-handling equipment) to safely transport, maneuver, load, and position heavy test specimens, raw materials, and machinery components.
