Dyna Robotics is a well-funded robotics company ($140M+ raised, backed by CRV, First Round Capital, Salesforce Ventures, Amazon, Samsung, and others) training robots to perform real-world manipulation tasks through imitation learning. The Data Annotation team converts raw teleoperation footage into precisely labeled robot episodes that directly feed the company's learning models.
As Annotation Operations Manager, you will own the operational engine that makes this annotation pipeline run predictably at scale. You'll start by managing a small pod of labelers and progressively expand to lead the full annotation team (currently ~12 people, growing). This is a hybrid operations and people management role where you drive throughput, quality, and team growth.
Key responsibilities include:
**Operations & Reporting**: Own daily and weekly throughput reporting across all active datasets, tracking episode totals, review stage progress, and ETAs. Manage the Encord annotation platform end-to-end—creating projects, configuring SOPs and ontologies, moving datasets through annotation/review/completion stages, handling grade splits and assignments. Track operational metrics (throughput per headcount, cycle times, labeling time variance) and proactively flag bottlenecks. Build and maintain automation and runbooks to reduce manual toil.
**People Management**: Lead day-to-day assignments and supervision of your initial pod, then transition to managing the full team as you scale. Own timecard, payroll, and approval workflows. Run full hiring cycle (sourcing, interviewing, onboarding, ramp). Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching, and quality feedback.
**Vendor & Third-Party Management**: Be the primary contact for Encord and external labeling vendors/partners. Provision access, stand up projects and SOPs for partners, manage scope and priorities. Own the scale and vendor upload runbook, ensuring clean data handoffs between systems.
You'll need 3+ years in operations, program management, or team management (ideally in data annotation, ML data pipelines, BPO, or high-throughput environments), direct people management experience, strong operational instincts, comfort with annotation tools like Encord, vendor management experience, and ability to juggle multiple concurrent workstreams. Bonus: robotics/computer vision exposure, workflow automation experience, or experience scaling annotation teams.
