Salary: GBP 75,000 - 200,000 / annual
Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonised energy system, controlling hundreds of thousands of energy assets (vehicle charging, heating systems, home batteries) to shift energy usage to times when electricity is cheap and green. In this Analytics Engineer role, you will sit at the heart of Axle's operations, developing deep expertise in UK flexibility markets and owning critical daily and monthly operational processes. You'll work in the 'Axle control room' running and optimizing the most critical operations: asset management, trading across UK flexibility markets, and ensuring clients and end customers are paid for the flexibility they deliver.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning operations for UK energy trading (daily trading processes, reviewing settlements)
- Debugging complex edge cases across trading, asset registration, and settlement processes
- Identifying revenue and delivery risks and proactively mitigating them
- Communicating insights and actions clearly to engineering and commercial teams
- Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders in Distribution System Operators (DSOs) and UK market regulators
The role is centred on core analytics engineering skills: developing deep understanding of source data and building data pipelines that power analytics. The company notes they don't use dbt because their data setup doesn't require a full ETL framework, but strong SQL and Python skills are essential for data analysis, investigation, and process automation.

REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong SQL and Python skills for analysing data, investigating issues, and automating processes
