Instructure is seeking an AI Engineer to join the Marketing team and expand engineering capacity for AI-powered marketing tools already in production. The role focuses on building and maintaining AI tools that have delivered measurable impact: localization time reduced by 90%, meeting prep time cut by 90%, and case study builds accelerated by 70%. You will work across all marketing functions—Brand, Content, Events, Product Marketing, International, and SDR—identifying workflows where AI can drive efficiency. Day-to-day work spans the marketing tech stack (Salesforce, Asana, Marketo, CMS platforms) and LLM/automation tooling that integrates them. Key responsibilities break into three areas: AI Tool Development (~50%): Build and maintain production AI tools including content generators, meeting and SDR prep systems, case study automation, and workflow integrations. Write, test, and iterate prompts across LLM applications; version and track performance. Build integrations between AI tools and marketing platforms using APIs, webhooks, and automation. Own tools from prototype through production, including monitoring outputs, tuning prompts, addressing drift, and shipping improvements based on user feedback. Enablement & Documentation (~25%): Create clear documentation and playbooks enabling marketing teams to self-serve. Train teams on tool usage, output quality, and appropriate use cases. Support the AI Incubator intake process by evaluating submissions and moving projects toward production. Quality & Support (~25%): Maintain production tools within data and brand guardrails, flagging customer data or brand voice concerns before launch. Respond to user issues, triage problems, and close the loop. Track tool usage and ROI to build defensible impact stories. The role offers flexibility to iterate constantly as the function evolves. You'll partner closely with the Senior Manager on prioritization and own your pieces of the build. REQUIREMENTS: - Proficiency with or ability to quickly ramp on Claude, Gemini, Clay, and Glean - 2+ years in marketing technology, automation, software, or comparable technical role, or equivalent hands-on project experience - Hands-on experience with LLMs: writing and iterating prompts, evaluating output quality, working within context limits - Comfort with technical integration: APIs, webhooks, automation platforms (Zapier/Make), and at least basic scripting (Python preferred) - Strong written communication skills—this role produces documentation others rely on - Comfort with ambiguity and bias toward shipping PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in B2B SaaS marketing, ideally EdTech or enterprise software - Familiarity with marketing ops tooling: Salesforce, Marketo, Asana, Google Analytics, or comparable platforms - Experience building something real with AI that people used—tool, bot, automation, or side project - Exposure to CMS or web platforms (Drupal, content management, localization workflows) - Experience with GitHub and Railway for version control and deployment
