The Landline Company is a fast-growing transportation and aviation services company (~500 employees) that partners with major airlines to offer innovative multimodal connections across North America, including a first-of-its-kind remote terminal checkpoint system. They're building people systems and employee experience from the ground up.
You will own the end-to-end deployment and configuration of ADP Workforce Now as the primary decision-maker for how payroll, time & attendance, HRIS, talent acquisition, and benefits are structured. This is not a maintenance role—you're building the platform architecture early, not inheriting a polished setup.
Key responsibilities:
- Deploy and configure ADP Workforce Now; make architectural decisions on system capabilities and evolution as the company scales
- Run biweekly payroll for all employee types (salaried, hourly, commissioned), including overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits calculations
- Manage off-cycle payroll runs for terminations, retroactive adjustments, and missed payments
- Maintain payroll records and support internal/external audit requests with accurate reporting
- Configure and maintain ADP time & attendance schedules for hourly employee groups; provide weekly reporting on worked vs. scheduled hours
- Train and support managers on ADP scheduling tools—change management is a core part of this
- Ensure payroll operations comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, tax regulations, and social security requirements
- Oversee workers' compensation structure: audit classification rates, support annual policy renewals, respond to audit requests
- Administer employee benefit programs (health insurance, retirement, leave policies), including open enrollment and year-round inquiries
- Establish bi-monthly audit process for HR, payroll, and benefits data integrity; maintain clean org structure, accurate employee profiles, consistent pay codes, and role-based access controls
- Own the employee experience within ADP—solve issues like pay stub access, time-off approvals, and benefits confusion
- Build adoption program for ADP self-service and manager tools; create plain-language guides and hands-on training
- Partner with HR, Finance, and Operations to keep data current for new hires, terminations, promotions, and leave adjustments
Required: 2+ years hands-on ADP Workforce Now experience spanning payroll, time & attendance, and HRIS. You've configured ADP before and have opinions on how it should be done. Working knowledge of federal/state payroll tax, wage & hour law, and workers' compensation basics. Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, payroll register audits, discrepancy analysis). Clear communicator who can explain complex concepts to frontline employees without jargon. High standards for data integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred: Experience building or significantly expanding an ADP Workforce Now instance (not just inheriting). Familiarity with ADP API Central or similar HR data integration tools. Exposure to transportation, logistics, or industries with large hourly workforces and complex scheduling.
Full-time, hybrid role based in New York or Fort Collins. Standard business hours, Monday–Friday. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), PTO, flight benefits through airline partners, and company-paid life insurance.
