Hometree is a fast-growing UK home services challenger, recently acquiring OVO Energy's Home Services division (including CORGI HomePlan and HomeHeat brands). The company now covers over 500,000 homes and operates across home cover, renewable installations (solar, batteries, heat pumps), and financing solutions. With 550+ employees and seven acquisitions to date, Hometree is at an inflection point and seeking talent to build the next phase of growth.
This is a brand-new, dedicated Accounts Payable position—the first of its kind in the group. Until now, AP work has been distributed across multiple team members. This role consolidates that function into one focused position to ensure AP is owned, consistent, and well-controlled across all group entities.
You will own the day-to-day purchase ledger across Hometree's entities, working with two accounting platforms (Xero and QuickBooks Online) supported by strong automation via Dext, ApprovalMax, and Spendesk. You'll process approximately 1,000 supplier invoices monthly, run several weekly payment runs plus month-end runs, and maintain supplier relationships and reconciliations.
Key responsibilities include: accurately coding and posting invoices across entities using Dext and ApprovalMax; preparing and processing weekly and month-end payment runs with proper approvals; reconciling supplier statements to the ledger and investigating discrepancies; monitoring aged creditors and chasing overdue items; processing subcontractor (CIS) payments and preparing CIS returns under Financial Controller supervision; resolving supplier and internal queries; supporting month-end close and balance-sheet reconciliations; assisting with internal and external audits; and identifying opportunities to streamline AP processes through automation and AI while maintaining strong controls.
The role is positioned as a launchpad for career development. Hometree will fund your professional study (AAT, with routes toward CIMA or ACCA) and provide hands-on experience across a multi-entity group environment. As the company and finance function scale, advancement opportunities will follow.
You'll report to the Financial Controller and work predominantly remotely with occasional travel to the Stoke-on-Trent office. The role includes 25 days holiday plus bank holidays and your birthday, hybrid working (2 days per week in the London office), free Hometree home cover, discounted gym membership, £300 home office allowance, mental health support, menopause support, cycle-to-work scheme, and regular team socials.
