Salary: USD 120,000 - 145,000 / annual

Roofstock is the leading end-to-end investment platform for single-family rental homes (SFR), with a mission to reinvent the rental housing ecosystem. The company has 750+ employees, closed a Series E funding round of $240 million in 2022, and operates offices in the Bay Area and New York City. Recent acquisitions include Stessa (financial and asset management software), RentPrep (tenant screening and placement), and Mynd (property management platform). You will lead the accounts payable, procurement, and corporate accounting functions as an experienced, detail-oriented manager. This hybrid role combines team leadership with hands-on accounting work. You will manage a team of two initially (potentially growing next year) while also performing core accounting tasks including journal entry preparation and review, balance sheet reconciliations, payroll and benefits accounting, and cash reporting. Key responsibilities include: - Own the full cycle of accounts payable and procurement operations: invoice processing, approval routing, purchase order workflow, contract approvals, vendor onboarding/KYC, and vendor escalations - Manage payroll and benefits accounting, including related journal entries and reconciliations - Prepare and review journal entries; reconcile 100% of balance sheet accounts monthly - Support the monthly close process to achieve a 4-5 day timeline while ensuring accuracy and US GAAP compliance - Produce recurring cash reporting (monthly minimum, ideally weekly) and monthly close packages including GAAP financials, non-GAAP reconciliations (EBITDA), and cash analysis - Supervise team members on day-to-day basis, assign workload, and conduct reviews - Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, external consultants, and other departments on special projects - Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization - Identify and implement AI-driven automation for journal entries and accounting workflows to improve accuracy and accelerate close This is a 2-day hybrid role in the Oakland, CA Bay Area office, effective October 2026. Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required) - 4+ years of progressive accounting experience - 1-2 years in a supervisory or team-lead role - Experience managing month-end and year-end close in a fast-paced environment - Hands-on experience with accounts payable and procurement operations - Solid working knowledge of US GAAP - Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in financial reporting tools Nice to have: - Hands-on experience with major ERP systems (NetSuite) - Experience with AP or procurement platforms (Zip, Ramp) - Payroll and benefits accounting experience - Big 4 or large regional public accounting experience - CPA certification
