Blackbird Health, a clinician-founded virtual and in-person pediatric mental health services provider operating across Pennsylvania, Virginia, New Jersey, and Maryland, is seeking an Accounting Manager to support its growing Finance team. You will report to the Director of Accounting and partner with Finance and cross-functional leaders to build out modern accounting infrastructure. In this hands-on role, you will own day-to-day general ledger operations, combining execution with strategic operational ownership. Key responsibilities include journal entry preparation, flux analysis, multi-entity consolidation, balance sheet reconciliations, and full-cycle accounts payable management. You will also serve as a key player in high-impact initiatives, including supporting the upcoming ERP accounting system implementation and driving audit readiness. You will manage end-to-end month-end close execution, preparing and reviewing complex journal entries, accruals, prepayments, multi-entity consolidations, intercompany eliminations, and monthly balance sheet reconciliations. You'll perform detailed monthly financial variance analysis across revenue and operating expenses, partnering with FP&A to translate financial data into meaningful insights for leadership. Additional responsibilities include managing full-cycle Accounts Payable operations (vendor onboarding, invoice processing, payment runs, corporate card management, and expense management tools), serving as a core operational partner in evaluating and implementing the next-generation ERP system, preparing audit-ready workpapers and schedules, and supporting cross-functional projects as Blackbird scales across new markets. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable managing confidential financial information while building efficient processes in a high-growth, multi-state environment. You should have deep experience with month-end close workflows, GAAP-compliant reconciliations, modern cloud accounting software, and spend management platforms. REQUIREMENTS: - 3–5 years of progressive experience in general ledger accounting, public accounting, or financial operations in a high-growth, multi-state startup environment - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience); CPA is a strong plus - Solid technical knowledge of US GAAP, multi-entity consolidations, complex journal entries, and variance analysis - Hands-on experience with modern cloud accounting systems (NetSuite, QuickBooks) and spend platforms (Ramp, Bill.com, Rippling) - Direct exposure to ERP implementation projects and external financial audit preparation
