As Accounting Manager, you will own day-to-day accounting operations and reporting, including GL, AP/AR, and the general ledger close with accuracy, timeliness, and US GAAP compliance. You will manage a Senior Accountant and an outsourced accounting team, helping lead the transition of work in-house over time. The role reports directly to the Director of Finance (who reports to the COO) and operates as a thought partner on automating close and operations. Key responsibilities include: running the month-end close and continuously shortening and automating it; preparing for and supporting external audits including documentation and internal controls; applying and maintaining technical accounting policies including revenue recognition under ASC 606 and lease accounting under ASC 842; evaluating, implementing, and optimizing accounting systems and workflows to reduce manual work and build for scale; partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Support; acting as a thought partner on automating close and operations using AI where it drives real impact; performing detailed flux and variance analysis to identify and investigate unexpected trends; and growing into broader ownership of the accounting function as the business scales. This is a role designed for long-term investment and growth. As the business evolves, the position is expected to take on increasing ownership and responsibility, with the opportunity to help shape and ultimately lead the accounting function over time. The company is moving from a lean model with outsourced accounting to building a modern, in-house accounting function. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of progressive accounting experience - Working knowledge of US GAAP, including revenue recognition (ASC 606) and lease accounting (ASC 842) - Strong systems instincts: experience evaluating, implementing, or redesigning accounting workflows and tools; preference for automation over manual effort - Tech-savvy and genuinely AI-curious; explored or eager to explore how automation and AI can transform accounting - Operational, ownership mindset: pragmatic, solution-oriented, able to work autonomously and adapt quickly - Strong interpersonal skills and cultural fit - Ideally: Big 4 audit and startup combined background NICE TO HAVE: - CPA or CMA certification - Experience implementing or migrating to a new ERP system - Experience with PLG and/or enterprise SaaS revenue models - Familiarity with NetSuite, Rillet, Campfire, Ramp, Carta, Orb, and Claude Code - Experience with auditing
