Meow provides startups with business accounts, corporate cards, and clean financial reporting to help them operate and raise capital. The company bundles bookkeeping, tax, and reporting into a finance-in-a-box solution for early-stage companies that need reliable books and investor-ready numbers but don't require a full-time accountant.
As Accounting Lead, you will manage a portfolio of 20-40 startup clients, owning the complete month-end close process from start to finish. You'll ensure all monthly financials are accurate, timely, and scalable while maintaining strong client relationships and margins. This is a high-autonomy role where you'll have real ownership over your work and the opportunity to improve processes and systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing client relationships and serving as primary point of contact
- Creating, reviewing, and issuing flawless and timely monthly financial statements
- Managing and training a preparer team to ensure quality and strong margins
- Communicating with clients via Slack and email to answer questions and gather close information
- Cleaning and setting up new books for newly signed clients
You'll work directly with innovative founders, gaining rare exposure to how companies operate while scaling. The high responsibility and client volume will accelerate your development in prioritization, systems design, and stakeholder management in a fast-moving environment.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of month-end close and financial reporting
- Experience reviewing the work of others (bookkeepers or junior accountants)
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously
- Clear communicator, comfortable working directly with founders
