n8n is an open workflow orchestration platform for AI automation, backed by Sequoia and SAP with a $5.2bn valuation. The company is hiring an Accountant to help build a lean, AI-native accounting function, reporting to the Head of Accounting & Tax.
In this role, you will own core accounting operations while leveraging automation and AI to improve processes. Your responsibilities include:
**Procure-to-Pay & Expense Operations:** Manage end-to-end P2P processes in Ramp, from invoice intake and coding to approval follow-ups and biweekly AP payments. Improve AI-assisted coding, automation rules, and exception handling to reduce manual work while maintaining strong controls. Support colleagues with expense reimbursements and corporate card questions.
**Accounting & Month-End Close:** Own assigned OPEX, card spend, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations. Partner with FP&A to ensure accurate GL and cost-center coding, timely financial information, and reliable month-end close. Maintain clear accounting records and support audit requests.
**AI-Native Accounting Function:** Use n8n, AI tools, and modern accounting platforms to identify automation opportunities and continuously improve workflows. Validate AI-generated outputs, prioritize human review where risks are highest, and maintain reliable evidence for stakeholders and auditors. Help scale accounting processes across the growing multi-entity business, with opportunities to expand into AR and revenue accounting.
You'll join a remote-first team of 260+ across Europe and the US, with center of gravity in Berlin. The company emphasizes autonomy, curiosity, experimentation, and continuous learning.
**Requirements:**
Must-haves:
- Hands-on accounting experience with practical GL and AP/P2P fundamentals (journal entries, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, reconciliations)
- Working knowledge of HGB or IFRS, invoice requirements, and VAT fundamentals
- AI & automation mindset; excited to experiment with AI and validate automated outputs
- Confident with spreadsheets and accounting systems; strong attention to coding accuracy, data quality, and financial controls
- Ownership mentality; proactive in identifying process improvements
- Effective English communication and cross-team collaboration
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with AI-native ERPs, Ramp, Q2C tools, or workflow automation platforms like n8n
- International accounting experience across multiple entities
- SaaS business model, multi-currency accounting, AR, or revenue recognition familiarity
- Audit background or relevant accounting qualifications
- German language skills (not required)
