SmartRent is a publicly traded (NYSE: SMRT) proptech company revolutionizing rental housing with an end-to-end platform combining software, integrated hardware, and implementation services. The company is seeking an experienced Access Control Designer to join the Operations team in Phoenix, Arizona.
In this role, you will design comprehensive access control solutions for multifamily properties, leveraging site visit information to create efficient and scalable systems. You'll develop clear scope-of-work designs for common areas requiring wired connections, coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery, and communicate both written and verbal updates to clients throughout the design process.
Key responsibilities include creating flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of materials, access control layouts, and electrical schematics using established design standards and hardware libraries. You'll support the sales team by addressing technical questions related to access control designs and streamlining the sales process. Strong coordination skills across multiple stakeholders and projects are essential.
Required qualifications include an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Design and Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Low Voltage Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience. You need 3–5 years of access control design experience specifically in multifamily or commercial properties, proficiency with software-based system design, and familiarity with common access control hardware (Mercury HID, Wavelynx, Assa Abloy). Experience with Salesforce and Google Workspace is expected. Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills are critical.
