Salary: USD 135,000 - 165,000 / annual
Phoenix Tailings is a rapidly growing clean mining and metals production startup dedicated to sustainable and economic critical metals production. The company's mission is to be the world's first fully clean mining and metals production company, producing the resources needed for the next generation of the economy.
You will lead complex strategic initiatives that cut across the organization, working with executives and functional leaders to define objectives, build business cases, establish practical plans, and drive execution through measurable results. This role requires structured problem-solving and strong operating instincts—you will align teams with different priorities, make progress without perfect information, and create durable ownership as initiatives transition into ongoing operations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading strategic initiatives from problem definition through implementation and handoff
- Building business cases, operating models, and recommendations for senior leadership decisions
- Establishing project governance, milestones, metrics, and decision forums for complex work
- Coordinating leaders across manufacturing, commercial, supply chain, finance, and other functions
- Surfacing risks, resolving dependencies, and escalating decisions with a clear point of view
- Communicating progress and recommendations to executives in concise written and verbal updates
- Creating repeatable processes and ownership models for work that becomes part of ongoing operations
- Coaching junior team members and improving the quality of shared analysis and project execution
The ideal candidate brings excellent executive communication and stakeholder management skills, sound judgment about when to work through an issue versus escalate, and a hands-on approach with willingness to stay close to execution details. Experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, critical materials, or climate-related industries is helpful but not required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 4 to 7 years of experience in consulting, corporate strategy, business operations, investment banking, or a scaling startup (demonstrated scope and results valued over rigid tenure)
- Experience owning complex projects requiring coordination across multiple functions
- Strong financial and operating analysis skills with ability to turn findings into practical plans
- Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management
- Sound judgment about escalation and issue resolution
- Hands-on approach and willingness to stay close to execution details
- Experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, critical materials, or climate-related industries (helpful but not required)
