Okta is seeking a Staff Analyst – People Technology to join the Business Solutions Team, leading the technical architecture and development of Workday Extend applications and enterprise integrations. This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on designing scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions within the Workday ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end architecture and technical design of Workday Extend applications, integrations, and supporting technology solutions
- Define scalable, secure, resilient application and integration architecture, data flows, API strategies, and technical standards
- Architect and lead development of complex Workday Extend applications using TypeScript/JavaScript, Workday APIs, and Extend frameworks
- Design enterprise Workday integrations using Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, RaaS, REST APIs, SOAP Web Services, and Workday Web Services
- Evaluate business requirements and determine appropriate solutions across Workday configuration, Extend, integrations, APIs, AI, cloud services, and third-party platforms
- Establish architectural patterns and reusable frameworks for Workday Extend applications and integrations
- Provide technical leadership for the complete application lifecycle including architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, release management, and production support
- Develop solutions leveraging AI and Generative AI to enable intelligent automation, enhanced user experiences, and innovative business capabilities
- Assess and utilize AWS cloud services to support application components, APIs, integrations, data processing, and AI capabilities
- Define and govern API, integration, security, authentication, authorization, error-handling, monitoring, logging, and performance strategies
- Partner with enterprise architects, business stakeholders, functional leads, security teams, cloud teams, and engineering teams
- Lead technical discovery, architecture workshops, proof-of-concepts, technology evaluations, and solution estimations
- Review and approve technical designs, application architecture, and integration patterns to ensure adherence to standards
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, scalability concerns, and opportunities for modernization
- Provide hands-on technical guidance while leading and mentoring senior developers and engineering teams
- Establish development and engineering best practices including code quality, version control, CI/CD, testing, observability, documentation, and deployment standards
- Drive continuous improvement of the Workday technical landscape by evaluating new capabilities across Workday Extend, Workday Integration, Orchestrate, AI/GenAI, AWS, APIs, and emerging technologies
Requirements:
- 8 to 10 years of overall IT/software development experience
- 4+ years of hands-on Workday Extend experience
- Workday certification in Extend (required)
- Strong hands-on experience with Workday Integration Frameworks
- Strong experience with Workday Studio
- Experience with EIB, Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, and Workday Web Services
- Strong knowledge of Workday REST/SOAP APIs
- Experience with RaaS, Workday Reports, Calculated Fields, and Business Processes
- Strong understanding of Workday HCM architecture and Workday data model
- Experience designing and developing enterprise-grade integrations
- Working knowledge of AWS cloud services
- Exposure to AI/ML and Generative AI technologies
- Strong understanding of API-based and event-driven integration architectures
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience integrating LLM/GenAI APIs into enterprise applications
- Knowledge of AWS Bedrock or equivalent enterprise AI services
- Experience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, EventBridge, or similar AWS services
- Understanding of RAG, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, and AI agents
- Experience building AI-powered automation or employee-facing applications
- Exposure to CI/CD, DevOps, Git, automated testing, and cloud deployment practices
