The company combines first-principles thinking with cutting-edge technology to make energy abundant and affordable. Operations span solar and battery development, hardware manufacturing, grid infrastructure improvement, real-time power trading, AI applications across the business, and distributed energy installation for homes. The company sells directly to consumers to eliminate middlemen and pass savings on.
You will be hired as VP of Engineering to take full ownership of one of the company's core engineering domains, reporting directly to the CTO. This is a hands-on leadership role with complete technical and delivery ownership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full technical and delivery ownership of a core business area (could span AI, trading, retail, or another platform component)
- Architect and build core systems in your domain, ranging from real-time generation and demand modelling to high-volume consumption pipelines and customer-facing applications
- Build and lead the engineering team within your domain, including hiring, team structure, and technical standards
- Set technical direction alongside the CTO and wider leadership team
- Remain hands-on, shipping alongside your team on the hardest problems
Requirements:
- Demonstrable excellence as an individual contributor
- Proven track record of building complex systems that run in production
- Experience leading engineering teams while remaining hands-on
- Comfort operating with wide scope and minimal structure, with sound judgment on prioritization
- Clear communication skills with engineers, product, and commercial stakeholders
