Tide is a fintech platform serving over 2 million SMEs globally with business banking, invoicing, and accounting solutions. The company has raised over $300 million and operates across the UK, India, Germany, and France with 2,800+ employees. You will lead the engineering organization behind Tide's Ongoing Monitoring platform, reporting directly to the Chief Data and Technology Officer. Ongoing Monitoring is Tide's fraud detection and financial crime prevention system, protecting members by detecting fraud, AML/CTF violations, sanctions breaches, and prohibited activities across every transaction processed. This role sits at the intersection of regulated risk operations, real-time platform engineering, and applied AI. Your primary internal customers are first-line operations teams; second-line risk and compliance set risk appetite; regulators set the bar. You will balance detection quality and fraud loss reduction while driving down the cost of monitoring per member and scaling agentic AI solutions in regulated workflows. Key responsibilities: - Set engineering strategy for fraud, financial crime, and ongoing monitoring platforms - Lead engineering teams across backend, frontend, data science, ML engineering, and analytics (primarily Hyderabad-based, with product leadership split between Hyderabad and London) - Lead managers and senior engineers; build leadership bench - Collaborate across risk, operations, business, design, product, and engineering stakeholders - Own the Decision Engine and Decision Intelligence Platform as shared capabilities, unifying domestic and international payment flows - Own the full model lifecycle: development, backtesting, shadow deployment, staged rollout, and production monitoring - Scale agentic AI in regulated workflows, including migration to Tide's shared agentic infrastructure and governance framework - Deliver measurable outcomes: lower fraud losses, higher automated alert throughput, reduced per-member monitoring costs - Build operating model connecting first-line operations, second-line risk/compliance, payments/acquiring engineering, KYX, AI Platforms, and data science - Apply principles to build once, deploy globally, keep market-specific logic isolated This is one of Tide's most critical engineering roles, shaping how quickly the company protects members, enters new markets under its own licenses, and compounds applied AI advantages in a regulated environment. Requirements: - Experience leading engineering organizations in fraud, financial crime, risk, or real-time decisioning domains - Strong track record turning platform investment into measurable outcomes: fraud detection/mitigation, unit economics reduction, workflow automation - Experience taking machine learning from development into production at scale, owning model performance post-launch, and iterating rapidly - Experience operating in regulated environments, working with second-line risk/compliance functions and regulators - Strong judgment across organization design, delivery, platform strategy, data architecture, and technical quality - Ability to lead distributed teams across multiple markets and align multiple functions behind one roadmap, operating model, and priorities - Bonus: Experience deploying AI or agentic systems inside regulated workflows with clear governance, evaluation, and human oversight
