Porter Logistics is a founder-led third-party logistics (3PL) company headquartered in Atlanta, founded in 2017. The company specializes in handling complex logistics: hazardous and specialty chemicals, food-grade and temperature-controlled products, bonded import freight, and bulk repackaging. With four facilities across Atlanta and the Savannah port area, Porter serves Fortune 500 manufacturers and global distributors, achieving 28% CAGR over four years with 2026 on pace for 40% YoY growth.
As Vice President of Operations (with a path to Chief Operating Officer), you will own operations across the entire network and build the operating company behind Porter's five-year national expansion plan. You will report directly to the CEO, partner closely with the President, and have regular Board exposure. Your mandate is to scale from two Georgia markets to six cities across five regions (Southeast, Texas, Northeast, Midwest, West), grow from 4 facilities to 15–17, expand the team from ~80 to 250+, and add transportation brokerage and drayage capabilities while scaling repackaging.
Key responsibilities include: owning safety, service, quality, productivity and facility-level P&L across all sites while maintaining 99% on-time and accuracy standards; driving margin through labor planning, engineered standards, and continuous improvement; protecting regulated capabilities (hazmat, food-grade, bonded, temperature-controlled) at every site; partnering on five-year strategy and capital planning; leading network expansion, greenfield launches, and site selection end-to-end; conducting operational due diligence on acquisition targets and owning 100-day integration plans; standing up new business lines (transportation brokerage, drayage, expanded repackaging); building a multi-layer leadership team sized for 3x current headcount; leading WMS, TMS, and automation investments; and serving as senior operating partner to largest customers.
First 100 days: know every site, leader, customer and facility P&L with floor time in Atlanta and Savannah; deliver a three-year operating plan and organization design; establish one operating cadence and KPI scorecard across all sites (safety, on-time, accuracy, productivity, facility EBITDA). Year one: existing sites at target capacity and margin; next new market launched and performing to plan with documented playbook; acquisition playbook in place and critical leadership hires made. Years two–three: three or more regions operating to one Porter standard; acquisitions closed and integrated on plan; new business lines contributing meaningful revenue. Year five: national network of 15–17 facilities, 250+ team, nine-figure revenue, double-digit millions EBITDA, leading as COO.
Qualifications Required: 12+ years of progressive operations leadership, including 5+ years leading multi-site operations through directors, regional or site leaders. Proven record of scaling operations through rapid growth (ideally 3x+ revenue, sites or headcount growth). Hands-on acquisition experience including operational diligence and integration. Experience launching new facilities or entering new markets from the ground up. P&L ownership with measurable EBITDA and margin improvement.
Preferred: 3PL, contract logistics or warehousing experience, especially in private equity-backed or high-growth platforms. Regulated operations experience (hazmat, chemical, food-grade SQF/AIB/GMP, bonded, temperature-controlled). Transportation brokerage, drayage, or packaging/repackaging operations. Multi-site WMS, TMS, ERP or automation rollouts and continuous-improvement discipline (Lean, Six Sigma). Bachelor's degree; MBA or engineering degree a plus.
