Sysdig is the creator of Falco, the open standard for cloud threat detection, and a leader in cloud security with runtime insights and agentic AI. The company is trusted by over 60% of the Fortune 500 and has been recognized as a Best Place to Work and one of Deloitte's fastest-growing companies for five consecutive years.
In this role, you will report to the Director of Engineering and lead a team of engineers building Sysdig's runtime agent—the software customers install directly in their environments and the primary data source for the platform. You will own technical direction, hiring, growth, and performance management for your team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and growing an engineering team with accountability for hiring, mentoring, and performance management
- Reviewing designs and code across the team, unblocking engineers on technically demanding problems, and staying hands-on with the most critical cross-cutting work
- Partnering with product, detection, and security research teams to deliver new functionality while maintaining production performance and stability
- Managing a distributed team with experience in long-term roadmap planning and features that span multiple teams
- Staying technical enough to set direction and review work yourself
You will work on low-level, performance-critical systems software that runs continuously in production on customer infrastructure. The role requires deep expertise in operating systems, distributed systems at scale, and the reliability and performance trade-offs of software deployed across diverse environments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience leading a team of engineers: hiring, mentoring, and managing performance while remaining technical
- Extensive experience building and operating low-level, performance-critical systems software in C/C++ that runs continuously in production on customer infrastructure
- Working experience with containerized and orchestrated systems (Kubernetes, containerd, cgroup familiarity)
- Deep working knowledge of OS internals and instrumentation techniques such as eBPF or kernel modules
- Proficiency in Linux internals (required)
- Experience operating distributed systems at scale, including reliability and performance trade-offs
- Experience managing a distributed team with long-term roadmap planning across different teams
- Experience growing a team through periods of rapid product change
- Plus: Expertise in Go or Rust
- Plus: Knowledge of Windows and/or macOS internals
