Pelico is a manufacturing orchestration platform trusted by industrial leaders like Airbus, Boeing, and Safran. The company has raised $72M from General Catalyst, 83North, and Serena, is growing 300% YoY, and operates in 15+ countries with offices in Paris, Miami, London, and Amsterdam.
You will lead one of Pelico's Platform squads, owning a capability cluster end-to-end that other engineers across the company depend on. The platform is configuration-driven and AI-native—field engineers stand up factory applications by authoring YAML rather than writing code. Possible squad focuses include the configurability framework, compute layer, widget surface, agent-development substrate (MCP/LSP/harness/BYOM), integration layer, or end-user Copilot.
Your mission spans five core responsibilities:
1. Build the substrate: Author frameworks, SPIs, runtimes, or AI tooling that other squads depend on, and review architectural decisions at depth.
2. Run it as a product: Own the roadmap, consumer contracts, adoption metrics, and deprecation policies that keep the platform surface clean.
3. Set the bar: Author specs, run spec-driven workflows, and establish eval and review gates that make agent-authored code trustworthy.
4. Harvest the field: Convert recurring customer patterns into platform capabilities so learning compounds rather than fragmenting into bespoke forks.
5. Lead by example: Write load-bearing code, pair with engineers, raise their craft, and grow the squad as the leverage you ship earns it.
Every Solution squad and customer deployment depends on the platform. Owning a capability cluster well creates leverage the entire company compounds on—the difference between a platform that scales and a pile of one-off forks.
This is a lead-by-example role for a senior engineer who builds platforms other engineers love. You measure yourself by what others build on your work and lead by being among the best engineers in the room.
The interview process includes a 30-min intro call with Talent Acquisition, a 45-min conversation with the VP Engineering, a 1.5–2 hour case study onsite, a leadership conversation with founders (CEO/CTO), and offer + reference checks run in parallel.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Track record of shipping production platform / framework / infrastructure that other engineers build on (SPIs, libraries, runtimes, dev tooling, or AI substrate)
- Deep, current hands-on coding in Kotlin / Java 25 (TypeScript/React for experience squads); strong proficiency or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Real API / SPI / abstraction-design judgment, with a feel for performance and correctness at scale (up to hundreds of millions of records)
- Platform-as-product mindset: optimize for adoption and others' leverage, comfortable with deprecation
- Track record of leading senior engineers by example, not by leaving the keyboard
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience running a team as an internal platform (adoption metrics, internal NPS, deprecation, roadmap)
- Squad-relevant depth in codegen/annotation processors, Kubernetes/IaC/observability, React/design systems, MCP/LSP/agent harnesses, ERP/connectors, or end-user agent UX
- AI-native ways of working (agentic workflows, eval harnesses, spec-driven development)
- Aerospace / defense / discrete-manufacturing context
- French language skills (not required)
