The company has raised $91M in total funding (Series B led by Sapphire Ventures in April 2025) and is headquartered in Seattle with an office in San Francisco. In this Tech Lead role, you will own the communication stack that connects law firms with their clients, starting with voice and extending across fax, email, and SMS. You'll be a hands-on technical leader who guides one or two engineers while remaining a strong individual contributor.
Key responsibilities include:

- Build and improve pipelines for fax, email, and SMS, including intelligently routing inbound messages to the right case
- Translate ambiguous product needs into practical technical designs with consideration for real user interactions
- Guide one or two engineers with clear direction, thoughtful code reviews, and sound engineering practices suited to a fast-moving startup
- Use AI coding agents and custom tooling to plan, build, review, and ship faster, while raising the team's AI-native craft
- Take ownership of production quality through monitoring, on-call responsibilities, and continuous improvement
- Operate autonomously while communicating clearly with technical and non-technical teammates
You'll work in a high-autonomy environment where every Tuesday is a remote work day, and you'll see your work land in front of customers in weeks.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, including building and shipping user-facing products in a hands-on capacity
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Full stack engineering with strong backend depth and experience building distributed systems
- Hands-on experience building applications with AI agents or LLMs, from design through production
- Demonstrated, day-to-day fluency building with AI coding agents (planning with agents, reviewing output, creating custom skills/tooling)
- Strong system design, testing, and code review practices with practical sense of which principles matter at startup scale
- Sound instincts for user experience and ability to turn half-formed product requirements into well-scoped technical solutions
- Experience guiding and mentoring other engineers while remaining a strong individual contributor
- Comfort operating autonomously and communicating clearly with technical and non-technical teammates
NICE-TO-HAVES:
- Experience building with voice or telephony
- Experience with messaging pipelines (SMS, email, fax) or message routing and classification
- Startup experience, especially during growth from small team to larger organization
- Experience owning production systems and on-call responsibilities
