SuperAnnotate is a Series B AI data company that helps leading AI teams build responsible models powered by high-quality human data. The company operates a global network of expert specialists and is backed by NVIDIA, Dell Technologies Capital, Databricks Ventures, and others.
As the first Talent Engineer, you will design and own the recruiting engine for SME Careers, the division that builds SuperAnnotate's global expert workforce. You'll approach recruiting as a systems and data problem, building scalable automation that grows faster than the team operating it.
Key responsibilities include:
- Configure and own AI sourcing and outreach platforms (such as Juicebox, hireEZ, Gem) and monitor their performance at scale
- Build workflows connecting the job platform to sourcing tools so every new role is sourced automatically from day one
- Own screening quality by building and maintaining AI-assisted screening prompts, evaluation logic, and quality checks
- Design and run outbound outreach sequences across email and LinkedIn, A/B test messaging, and optimize what converts
- Build real-time reporting on source quality, conversion rates, time to staff, and cost per active expert
- Set up workflows to search the existing applicant pool before spending on new candidate acquisition
- Scope and build integrations through APIs and webhooks, partnering with engineering as needed
- Calibrate search criteria with the talent team while protecting candidate experience and ensuring GDPR compliance
- Document architecture and workflows, training the talent team to run and adjust them independently
You'll work directly with the Director of Product and Operations and the SME Careers talent team. This is a full-time, hybrid role based in San Francisco where you'll have real ownership and visibility into how your systems impact the company's ability to staff projects quickly.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years in recruiting, sourcing, or recruiting operations with understanding of how sourcing, screening, and outreach fit together
- Experience recruiting at high volume, especially contractor, freelance, or gig workforces
- Hands-on experience running AI sourcing or outreach tools (Juicebox, hireEZ, Gem, or similar) beyond basic searches
- Programming or scripting experience (ideally Python or JavaScript), plus SQL, and comfort with REST APIs, JSON, and webhooks
- Track record of building automations or workflows that others rely on, with attention to data integrity and maintainability
- Hands-on experience building software with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) — shipped working tools or automations, not just experimentation
- Comfort with data: can build funnel reports from raw exports or APIs and explain what they mean
- Understanding of what a recruiter's day actually looks like and ability to build tools teams will actually adopt
- Good judgment about candidate experience and instinct for when outreach reads as automated
- Comfort with ambiguity and building a function from scratch
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience building recruiting or HR technology
- Background in AI training data, data annotation, or expert networks
- Experience with workflow automation tools (n8n, Make, Zapier)
- Global recruiting experience across multiple regions and languages
- Computer science, data, or engineering background that led into recruiting or people operations
